ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE INDEPENDENT ELECTION COMMMISSION (IEC)-LIBCOR

The Liberian Community's Ad Hoc Independent Election Committee (AHIEC) will play a critical role in ensuring fair, transparent, and efficient elections. Roles and responsibilities:

  1. Planning and Organizing Elections:
  2. Develop a clear timeline and schedule for the election process in line with LIBCOR's constitution, including candidate registration, campaigning, voting, and results announcement.
    Define the rules and guidelines for the election, ensuring they align with the community's bylaws or governance structure.

  3. Managing Candidate Registration:
  4. Establish criteria for candidates, ensuring that they meet the community's requirements for running for office.
    Oversee the registration process, verifying candidates' eligibility and ensuring that all required documentation is submitted.

  5. Ensuring Transparency and Fairness:
  6. Create and implement processes to ensure a transparent election, including clear communication about procedures and results.
    Monitor campaigning activities to ensure fairness and compliance with the established rules.

  7. Organizing and Supervising Voting:
  8. Determine the voting method (e.g., in-person, mail-in ballots, electronic voting) and ensure it is secure and accessible to all eligible voters.
    Coordinate logistics for voting, including location, materials, and personnel.

  2. Establish a secure process for collecting and counting votes to prevent fraud or tampering.
    Announce results in a clear and timely manner, providing details on the number of votes each candidate received.

  3. Handling Disputes and Complaints:

    Investigate any allegations of irregularities or misconduct and take appropriate action.
